Blood Orange Fennel Negroni

A botanical negroni in a pretty orange glass with raised bumps on the outside. There is an orange slice and fennel frond for a garnish.

Inspired by the confluence of spring harvests, when blood oranges come on the scene at the same time as bitter herbs of fennel, artichoke leaf, and wormwood. Our negroni relies on a bit more gin than a traditional negroni recipe since we are replacing Campari with our N/A Blood Orange Fennel Mixer. Expect a slightly less sweet, more botanical forward flavor profile and top with our Sonoma Spring Bitters for an additional brightness and mildly bitter finish.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Gin or Mezcal of choice

  • 0.5 oz Sweet Vermouth

  • 1 oz Land + Local Blood Orange Fennel Seasonal Mixer

  • Bitters (I used our Sonoma Spring N/A Bitters)

A visual representation of step one - a figure is pouring gin into a jigger measuring out the 1.5 oz the recipe calls for. The other recipe ingredients are lined up in the foreground of the shot.

Step One

Pour the gin or mezcal, sweet vermouth, and Blood Orange Fennel Botanical syrup into large glass over ice.

Step Two

Stir ingredients together with tall spoon, then strain contents into an old fashioned glass.

Step Three

Top with 1 dropperful bitters, garnish with orange slice and fresh herbs. Sip and enjoy
